Opened, been refused, or had an account closed as a US person abroad? Tell us. We publish community datapoints labelled as such and look for an official source before upgrading them.
How to send a datapoint
Send us a datapoint by replying to any Expat Money Map newsletter email, or post it in the Reddit thread.

Helpful details to include:
- The institution and product (current account, brokerage, ISA, pension…)
- Your country of residence, and whether you're a US citizen, dual citizen or green-card holder
- What happened (opened, refused, restricted, or an existing account closed) and roughly when (YYYY-MM)
- What the institution said, and a link to an official page if you have one
Please don't include account numbers, SSNs or other sensitive data. Datapoints may be published anonymously as community reports.
